Southampton Winter Lighthouse

Winter Lighthouse

Winter Lighthouse

Taken a few weeks ago in Southampton Ontario. The weather is starting to warm up a little now so hopefully I will be able to bring you a nice sunset shot from this location this summer!

Snowy Cap

Snowy Cap

We sure have had our share of snowfall this year! This was taken near Wiarton Ontario. This rock has 2 – 3 feet of snow on it. The trails are very difficult to navigate without snowshoes or skis. I know because I had neither!

Tree on a Hill

Lone Tree

Lone Tree

Tree on a Hill
Well rooted and steady
Ready to take what life has to impart
But Alone

But not Really
It is one with the Earth
It’s roots feasting on its bounty
The winter – a time of rest
The spring – a time of renewal
The summer – a time to grow
The Autumn – a time to sow

I think we may have a lot to learn from this lone Tree!

Ice Storm

This morning I was checking emails and all of a sudden a blank screen. Outside it was raining and the ice was accumulating on the ground, trees, and hydro lines. The result was power was off for the majority of the day. Once the rain stopped I got out and took a few pictures.

Solitude

Solitude

A lone kayaker paddling into the sunset. What a wonderful way to shake off the tension and worries of the day. You can almost feel your blood pressure go down just watching the rhythmic motion of the paddle.

Abandoned Lawn Swing

Abandoned Lawn Swing – Colpoy’s Bay

This abandoned lawn swing sits on the shores of Colpoy’s Bay near Wiarton Ontario. I felt the grungy look of the swing warranted a grungy texture and frame

Created from a single raw image adjusted in Lightroom with the texture layer added in Photoshop.

Another shot taken last weekend near Millbank. The water contrasts nicely with fresh fallen snow.

Weavers Creek Boardwalk

Weavers Creek Boardwalk

Weavers Creek Boardwalk

Here we are back at Harrison Park in Owen Sound. As I mentioned in my Weavers Creek Falls post, access to the falls is short trek made easily via this boardwalk. It is accessible all year round. The sound of running water and the birds calling make this walk peaceful and calming. Walking in the bush and on the beach are two of my favorite things.

Weavers Creek Falls is located in Harrison Park, Owen Sound. The short trek back to the falls is made easily via a boardwalk. It is accessible all year round. Harrison park is a beautiful spot and the the falls make a beautiful side trip from the main park area.
Is that a giant eye peeking out from behind the falls!! Might it be a Dragon’s Den!

This was shot out in Floradale this summer. The sunset was beautiful as this horse was having a evening snack.

Heavy Horses

Heavy Horses

These horses reminded me of one of my favourite Jethro Tull Albums – Heavy Horses. This was taken between Waterloo and the village of Conestogo. I had to crawl down quite a steep embankment to get to their level. Anything to get the shot.

This shot is an HDR with a texture layer and various adjustments.
