Doors Open Stratford – St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church
I know I am jumping around a little with posting Doors Open pictures from different cities but I processed this one a while ago and thought I would post it tonight since I didn’t have anything else ready.
This is St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Stratford and I love this curved balcony. It was just beautiful inside.
The congregation acquired this site in 1838. In 1868, a white-brick church was built, and it continues to be part of the church structure. A larger structure, today’s sanctuary, was built in 1911. The unique stained-glass windows lined with bronze castings are not to be missed. (from the Doors Open Stratford website.)
Stratford Sunset
Lake Victoria in Stratford Ontario Canada was a beautiful place to reflect on the sunset earlier this summer.
Taming the Dragon
Dragon Boat teams were practicing on the lake in Stratford Ontario. It takes a lot of teamwork, coordination, and discipline to tame one of these beasts!
P.S. I did not add the shadow in the upper right. I only noticed it later when looking at it on the computer.
Yellow Boats
We came across these yellow paddle boat while walking around lake Victoria in Stratford Ontario. A little creative software additions resulted in this image.
Huron Street Bridge Stratford Ontario
Built in 1885 this double arched aqueduct road bridge is the only one in North America still in use by automotive traffic. It is located in the picturesque City of Stratford Ontario. Yes, the same place Justin Bieber is from.
Gondolas
There where actually four Gondolas tied up here and I really wanted all four in the picture. But cropping it down to three looked better and kept the picture simpler. Just like vine dresser has to prune the grape vines to get the best crop, some time the photographer has to crop to get the best shot.
Shot in Stratford Ontario on Victoria Lake.
Right Versus Might – Stratford War Memorial
The Stratford War Memorial – Right Versus Might was completed in 1922. It was designed by Canada’s most famous sculptor, W.S. Allward and the dramatic style was the precursor to the famed Vimy Ridge Memorial to World War I Canadian soldiers in France.
