Snowy Forest
I love walking through a forest with freshly fallen snow. The snow absorbs the sound making it so quiet and peaceful.
This was taken near Wiarton Ontario with my Samsung Galaxy s7. Edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.
Misty Sailboat
It was a misty morning in the village of Colpoys on Colpoys Bay. We were waiting for the sunrise and this pretty little sailboat was anchored on the bay. I put on my telephoto lens and took a few shots. Because of the conditions the results were rather flat – so I started to experiment in Photoshop with several different layers and techniques.
Hope you enjoy the result.
Summer Sunrise II
Another shot at a different angle of the sunrise over Colpoys Bay on the long weekend. This is a great place to shoot from with lots of angles to choose from.
Summer Sunrise
The last long weekend of the summer. Sleep in, relax. …wait what – Not this time.My wife and I were up at 6:00 am – Stopped at Tim’s for coffee and tea and then to a little cove just past the Wiarton Marina to take pictures of the sunrise. We may not have slept in but it is relaxing to sit and watch the sun rise. I am not a morning person but I never regret getting up for a beautiful start to the day.
Lazy Hazy Days of Summer
Watching the sun set (and taking pictures of it) is one of my favorite things to do. Here we are overlooking Colpoys Bay near Wiarton Ontario. The sunsets have been a little hazy lately and I hear this is a result of all the forest fires out West.
Wiarton Winter Sunrise
This is a follow up to my previous post –Â Sunrise Surprise. While I still had a few minutes to capture the sunrise I scooted down the shore and found this snow covered cedar with a young tree poking through. It provided an interesting foreground for this shot. Colpoy’s Bay was frozen over but not enough to go out on the ice. What a beautiful way to start the day.
Sunrise Surprise
I was in Wiarton Ontario this weekend (about 2 hr’s north of where I live) to take some winter photos. The weather prediction was for overcast skies but I got out early in hopes of at least some good light. To my surprise the clouds opened up at the horizon and allowed for few minutes of a beautiful surprise sunrise. I just got out of the car and was lucky to get this shot before it disappeared.
Later throughout the morning there were a few more times the sun poked through but the rest of the weekend was indeed overcast and actually rainy on Sunday. Despite the weather I think it was a successful weekend and I will share a few more shots in the coming days.
Summer Blur
Wow, the summer went by in a blur and now the majority of leaves are off  the trees and we have had a dash of snow.
I took this shot by panning the camera with a slow shutter speed and I think it represents how fast the summer seemed to fly by.
Muskoka Chair Sunset
A beautiful sunset a few days ago overlooking Colpoy’s Bay
Colpoy’s Bay Sunset
The ice started to break up in Colpoy’s Bay near Wiarton this weekend and the sunset was beautiful!
Snowy Cap
We sure have had our share of snowfall this year! This was taken near Wiarton Ontario. This rock has 2 – 3 feet of snow on it. The trails are very difficult to navigate without snowshoes or skis. I know because I had neither!
Snowy Sunset
As the sun set over the still snowy landscape, the warm yellow of the setting sun contrasted with the cool blue of the snow. Some how everything seemed in balance.
This was shot on the shores of Colpoy’s Bay near Wiarton Ontario.
Best Seats
There is nothing like a couple Muskoka chairs to relax in and watch the sunset.
This is a 3 exposure HDR processed in Photomatix, Lightroom and Photoshop. Finished off with the oil paint filter in Photoshop.
Happy Canada Day Weekend
The weather is perfect here in Wiarton on Colpoy’s Bay. We are spending the weekend here relaxing and taking photo’s.
Abandoned Lawn Swing
This abandoned lawn swing sits on the shores of Colpoy’s Bay near Wiarton Ontario. I felt the grungy look of the swing warranted a grungy texture and frame
Created from a single raw image adjusted in Lightroom with the texture layer added in Photoshop.
Remember
November 11th – Remembrance Day here in Canada. We give thanks for this great country and Remember all who sacrificed to keep it that way. My parents are from the Netherlands and the people of Holland are forever grateful for the roll Canada played in their Liberation.
This picture was taken Last year in Wiarton Ontario
Side note: I have added a Gallery – Check the menu in the upper right of the page
Colpoyp’s Panorama
This panorama of Colpoy’s Bay was made up of 13 images stitched together. The small size limit of this blog doesn’t do it justice but if you click on the image you will get a slightly larger size. The view is 180 degrees  from end of the bay to the west to the mouth of the bay to the east.
Bay Watch
An early morning fall shot on Colpoy’s Bay. It is a great place to come and calm your soul.
Reflecting on Autumn
The colours this Autumn were very nice this year. With the dry summer we had I wondered what the colours would be like and they turned out to be a nice balance of reds through to yellows . This shot is on Colpoy’s Bay in Wiarton Ontario. Just as a side note Autumn is one of those words that made me hate spelling as a kid. Heck even now it sometimes has me stumped! M and N should only be beside each other in the alphabet.
Colpoy’s Bay Sail and Sun
The anchor is set. The sun is setting. It was a beautiful evening on Colpoy’s Bay when I shot this a few weeks ago.
Colpoy’s Rocks
Another shot of Colpoy’s Bay. This was taken mid afternoon when the wind was up.
Colpoy’s Sunset
Here is another sunset shot taken at Colpoy’s Bay near Wiarton. I never get tired of watching these sunsets.
Wiarton Fair Ferris Wheel
Every Fair has to have a Ferris Wheel. It’s a great ride for young and old.
